FAQ'S

Q. Why Canine Evolution?

A. Our company takes pride in our successful qualified trainers who only use positive reinforcement training methods. We have trainers from a variety of backgrounds ranging from veterinary, rescue, other nationwide dog behaviour companies to Home Office approved trainers including the prison service, police force and military.

With such a strong team we will always be able to perfectly match your dog to the right trainer to ensure the best results.

We have a very impressive record of training and rehabilitating over 1000 + dogs throughout our trainers careers.

Q. Why choose board and train?

A. Board and train is a continuous one to one training style, your dog will become part of our trainers family for the duration of its stay. This enables us to witness behaviours you may not see on a typical hour training session. Dogs typically have a shorter attention span, so we believe in a little and often approach to keep up training momentum in order to experience the best results. This means your dog will be trained at various intervals throughout each day which allows us to put in the essential ground work to get your dog on the right path to evolve into the perfect family pet.

Our handover style will enable you as the owner to continue the training at home, A dog is for life and so is training.

 Q. Where will my dog be staying?

A.  All dogs will be kept in a home environment with their designated trainer to imitate their normal home life. We will do our best to mirror what you do at home e.g. if your dog is crate trained at home then the trainer will continue that routine (Outdoor dogs can be accommodated)

Q. How will my dog be collected?

A. Collections and drop offs will be scheduled for Sundays, this is due to our trainers coming from various locations throughout the UK and find that most clients will be available on Sundays. Trainers can have multiple stops on the same day so please keep your start and end dates free.

Once your trainer has been allocated they will reach out and let you know a more specific timeframe. The trainer will collect your dog from your house/establishment allowing them to see your pet in it's natural environment and give you a chance to show your trainer any pressing behavioural issues.

Safe transport will be provide to their temporary home with one of our Evo team. They will also be delivered back to you at your home on completion of their course where you will receive a 1 hour handover to show you everything your pet has learnt and how to implement this into your daily routine.

Q. What will I need to provide for the stay?

A. All your pooch will need is enough food for their stay plus an extra week, so for example if you have booked in for a 3 week course we ask that you pack enough for 4 weeks. We find that whilst with us dogs will be doing extra exercise than usual therefore their appetites may increase during their stay.

Dogs like a little bit of home comfort so if you have a small blanket that smells like home this can help ease them in, however any items sent are at the owners own risk. We do not require any toys, beds, bowls or other items as all our trainers have an abundant amount of these.

Please do ensure your dog is wearing a collar with an ID tag on as this is now a finable offense under new government regulations.

Q. Does my dog need to be vaccinated?

A. Yes! All dogs coming into our care need to be fully vaccinated, we highly recommend a Kennel Cough vaccine for any dogs staying with us as socialising with other dogs is a core part to a lot of our programs. We do ask for a copy of the vaccine document, if you do not have their vaccination card we will request an email from your vet stating your dog has had their vaccines and/or boosters and are currently up to date.

We can only accepts dogs who are at least 1 full week past their latest vaccination, for dogs who have the Kennel Cough vaccine, this is extended to at least 2 full weeks due to the vaccine containing a live virus.

Q. Grooming Requirements?

A. Whilst our trainers will do what they can to maintain your dogs coat, they are not professional groomers and your dog will likely spend a lot of time outside socialising and exploring new environments. If your dog is long-haired, we would recommend a trim prior to starting one of our training courses. Where your dog is booked in for a rehabilitation course due to human aggression, this is a must as your dog will likely not accept their trainer grooming them in the first week or so of their course.

Q. What aftercare support do you provide?

A. Once your dog has completed their course you will receive a handover video/write up showing/ discussing what they have learned, as well as the 1 hour handover session once the dog arrives home with yourself where your trainer will run through everything they have learnt, show you how to do any obedience they have learnt and answer any questions.

The group will remain open following your dogs return so you can ask your trainer for follow up advice, if you are struggling to implement the training programme given, you can send videos to your trainer who can asses and assist to get your dog back on track.
